Ok so im working on my new pc, and i want him to use Touch combat spells but delivering the spell seems hard... So what im asking is Do any of you GM types think a touch spell can be used in conjunction with a spell say knockout sr4 pg205 same as stun bolt/stun ball but you gotta touch them... Can you do that with an attack action and have spell in ready? yes, no, maybe,

Second question: Application of above example how do you do this in game terms? Like if there is a melee attack with hardliner gloves that causes stun dmg plus the knockout spell stun dmg or just the knockout stun dmg?

Third question: Drawbacks
Now the down side for maintaining the spell i believe there is a -2 to all things other then said spell or something like that so maybe the attack action itself has a minus two yes no maybe...?

Hi.

Here are my 2 cents on your questions:

1: Yes, spells can be converted into touch attacks. This is more of a house rule. The effect of the spell will be the same, only changing the "ranged" or "sight" factor into "melee touch"

2: The effect of the spell would be the same, unless you are trying to combine it with a weapon, for example, a stun knife. The weapon would then become a Foci, and you just do melee attacks. Now for the resistances, it would be two different rolls, one for the spell effect, and one for the knife damage value in this example.

Touch effects also bring into consideration "glance attacks", which is also another house rule call. Normally if the defender wins or ties the "dodge roll" he avoids the attack. On touch attacks, a "tie" means a "glance hit", on which case the effect of touch weapons, like stun batons or shock gloves, still take effect. (page 149, action turn 3 of SR4 book)

3: As for drawbacks, other than the standard maintain penalty, the big one is that the mage will need to be in "melee" range. Which as all you know, is a place magi reeealy don't want to be in.

yeah i feel you on the mages don't want to be into melee but this is an exception.... other then magic its his only defense also i should let you know he's a drake so unarmed has two uses basically im doing this on Chummer with my books so its kinda easier to see this way iv got a rough draft here
