Simple and dirty, referances are in augemtation and SR4. Each Cyper limb has a Capacity rateing. You can add things like weapons comlinks, strength enhancers, body enhacners up to this rateing. Just like moding a weaon or vehicle. Base strength and body rateing of a cyber limb is three for both. Page numbers will come later.

Ok, so say you get a cyberlimb with a base strength of 3. And your character's strength is 4. Does that mean that for all strength tests involving the arm you roll a strength pool of 3? Or a strength pool of 7 (your 4 plus the cyber limb of 3)?

From the core rule book:

Quote :
When a particular limb is used for a test (such as leading an attack with your cyberarm), use the attribute for that limb (natural or cyber); in any other case, take the average value of all limbs involved in the task (round down). If a task requires the careful coordination of several limbs, use the value of the weakest limb.

So if you were arm wrestling or punching with that cyber arm, you'd use the strength attribute of the arm, even though it is weaker. If you were trying to break down a door, you'd take the average... although I dunno what all you'd take the average of. Both arms and a shoulder maybe? Or maybe you could just use your natural arm and shoulder to break down the door and leave the weaker cyber arm out of it? I guess it depends how you write it, probably!

Strength is 3.

Keep in mind you can buy cyberlimbs with a higher rated base attribute level up to your natural attribute. This does however cost extra and is a rule (with associated costs) presented in Augmentation. The difference is that buying a higher rated limb does not eat up capacity vs using attribute enhancements which do. You can not buy a limb with a rating higher than your natural attribute however. So if your base attribute is 5, you can buy a limb with a base attribute as high as 5. However if you wanted that limb to have a raiting of 6, you would need to buy the 6th point as an augmentation of that arm which would take capacity points.

Now, when it comes to cyberlimbs, are we including a cyber torso in that regards? Or is a cyber torso's body rating equal to the character's body rating automatically, since it's just a shell rather than a replacement?

By the rules. no. Your cyber torso would have a base body of 3, not your own body. Which, in a way, makes some sense. Its not hard to damage internal organs once you get past skin and ribs, and those would be replaced in a cyber torso.

Also remember that each cyber limb (including torso) lets you take 1 extra box of physical damage. Again, makes sense. A metal shell isn't going to as yielding as flesh, so it won't soak injury without damage as well, but its also metal so can take more of a pounding.

Is there a minimum natural stat required to take a cyberlimb. For example, can I make a physically weak character (BOD 1 STR 1 AGI 1) and then spend the Nuyen to buy a full set of limbs and torso (thus exploiting the system and having an equivilent STR and BOD of 3)?

You can, but those stats -only- apply to your limb. So unless you're replacing your whole body, you'll still have to account for that. Also, remember that Body is also used for toxin/poison resistance tests. Smile As well as a few other things beyond damage control.

I was thinking 4 limbs and a torso replacement. I am not sure what you would use skull strength for lol...but probably a skull too. (I probably wont do this just getting a feel for the rules and if it is possible.... when I GMed we had a house rule that you needed a body of at least 3 or your immune system couldnt handle it (unless it was really high end stuff or bioware)...but that was just my house rule.

By the cores there is no minium attribute required, but there are heal checks, involved. They are in the alternate rules in the coremanual and augmentation. IF you need the pages then let me know. They are away of makeing haveing a lower body gives you a chance of rejection.
