Who said running the shadows was easy? Dodging bullets, swords, spirits, and spells just to name a few. Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, even the occasional Dragon can make any Shadowrun go bad.

With the recent news of extreme problems at Catalyst, it looks like their days might be numbered when it comes to Shadowrun material. Several people have stated that they wold hate to see Wizards of the Coast grab the right to produce Shadowrun. This made me wonder, what company would people like to see grab the license to create Shadowrun books?

Interesting Question... Catalyst did an admirably good job, as far as post-SR books go. I had been quite unimpressed with Fanpro, despite how well SR3 ended up turning out, they cut costs on production, and any of the Fanpro books turned out to be of quite poor quality.
That being said, WOTC has been doing quite a good job of balancing the issues of production costs VS profit with quality of product in most of their other ventures. I can imagine them continuing the good work in terms of actual product quality. On the other hand, D&D 4.0, in my opinion, is a blight upon the good record of D&D History. I have SOME forgiveness for the fact that any time a complete redesign is undertaken, there is the risk of complete garbage as the result... So I am holding out final judgement for a D&D 4.5, sometime in the not so distant future, to see if they rectify the terrible mistakes made in 4.0. Again, with respect for their actual product, the D&D 4.0 books themselves are probably the highest quality paper/binding that I have seen since D&D 1.0!!!!!

I'd actually like to see White Wolf take over production. They've been really good with their Worlds of Darkness setting, which is almost similar to Shadowrun. I think I would like to see how they handle it. And since they've been around since what, 1991? They obviously know how to handle their money, and the dice rules in 4E is essentially the same as WoD. So if White Wolf takes over, the next edition probably won't be too much different.

I second that! I hadn't thought of it, but WW would be a totally acceptable replacement!

BTW, if anyone in this forum want's to buy out Catalyst, I will be happy to donate $5 out of my own pocket to making it work!

I don't think that would work out well. They would probably sell out quick, and stick us with all the payments they owe to freelancers who wrote the books.

I agree with WW. They makea great product, and I think they could do a good job at producing Shadowrun.

Now as to someone herebuying it.... I think we all have the ability to be good writers, otherwise PbP wouldn't work. So, we could be the writers for Shadowrun 5th ed... lol.
