Who said running the shadows was easy? Dodging bullets, swords, spirits, and spells just to name a few. Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, even the occasional Dragon can make any Shadowrun go bad.

Lucas Aldon had an unusual background for a runner. His parents started having kids late in the game, but they were good people and tried to raise him right. Twelve years after he was born his mother got pregnant again. Everyone would have thought she was too old to get pregnant, and after she went into labor they realized she was too old to survive it. She lived just long enough to give him a name: Benjamin.

The next few years were tough. His dad was a low level corper so Lucas spent a lot of time helping take care of his little brother. When he was 18 his father used what few contacts he had within the corp got him a part time job driving a delivery truck. Not long after, their father went to sleep one night and never woke up.

With a little brother to support and very little money left behind by his father, Lucas began working more hours and taking on deliveries in some of the rougher bits of town. He wasn't able to keep a very close eye on his little brother and before he knew it, Ben had joined a gang. This didn't worry Lucas too much. Many of his childhood friends had been in gangs and his somewhat sheltered life along with the stories of comradery his friends told had left him with a naive view of ganger life.

A few weeks after Ben's 10th birthday, Lucas got a call that shattered his world. His little brother, along with 3 other kids, had been executed by a rival gang in retaliation for operating on their turf. Lucas escaped into his work. He began working extra shifts, taking on runs to parts of town that most of the drivers refused without hazard pay, had a data jack installed so he could rig his way through the day and make as little contact with the outside world as possible. This went on for a few months. One day after working 72 hours straight his boss, fearing the impending lawsuit that would occur after the kid eventually snapped and ended up plowing his truck or a drone through a crowded crosswalk, told "you're going on vacation, pack up your drek and if you show your face around here in the next 30 days I'm calling Lone Star and claiming you've been stealing shipments!"
