Background: It takes a lot to be an troll, a lot more to be a live one. And given Boris' distintive look of light coloured skin and faded colour eyes, there was certainly some degree of divine aid given. Born to fairly young troll parents (hey, they were in love and it was the '30s), Boris was born into the world at its early awakening stages. goblinization still fresh on the minds of the seattle people. His earliest memory is that of being curled up amongst the litter on the lap of his mother, as the trucks drove them to the safehouses near the docks. His second earliest memory was that his name wasn't Boris, but as to what it really was is lost to him now. To be fair on the conditions they were put in, life was fairly manageable. At the age of 10 he had a ton of young friends to play with, a square meal every day, and a family who loved him. His skin pigmintation brought him quite a bit of teasing, but he endured it with a smile, a cheer, and a headlock until they cried Uncle. For the most part, his childhood before the hand of five came in was bliss. For the night itself, Boris cannot remember much of what happened. There was smoke. There was a lot of screaming and dragging. He was between two of his brothers, his mother at the front, father at the back. Something went off, flew in his face, and let go. After that there was a lot of fire, and a lot less screams. He was fortunate in the end, as he always has been. Another Troll grabbed him on his own mad dash at freedom, and somehow got him outside. He hugged him, calling out "Boris, Boris I am so glad you're alright... I thought I lost you..." Oddly enough, Boris never corrected him, and hasn't corrected anyone since. The man's name was Andreas, and unbeknownst to him, there was more than one albino troll in the docks. Whether he realised this sooner or later, Boris never knew. But he always treated him like his son, and he never complained. They travelled together, Andreas becoming a rather strong follower of the Ork Underground, and Boris slowly retreating inside himself into the quiet man that he is today. For years they were constantly moving, going from faction after faction, Andreas leaving him at a squatt while he went off to 'take care of some smoothies who had gone a little too far'. Boris didn't mind much - he had started to see the bright side of being alone. Soon, Andreas begun to show his own age. His trips out became less frequent, his speed started to slow, started to become more reliant on Boris than the other way around. They begun to look for a place to settle down, at least until he got better. Andreas' connections were vast in the Underground, which helped them see the magical potential in Boris at an early stage. Spotting the child's natural green thumb, they intoduced him to a Kabal of celtic druids who were building a small base in the Cavern of waterfalls, which, in turn, lead to the two of them moving down into the tunnels instead, with the promise that Boris would mind the gardens of the cavern. Now, as the 70s arrive, Boris has found himself to be the money maker of the household, Andreas now retired to making sure their home does not collapse on itself. Egged on by his foster father, he has taken to doing quite a bit of shadowrunning concerning the Ork Underground, with hopes that it would please him. 50 Questions - Spoiler:
"Yo.. boris!" *turns* "Yes? Father?" "Have you filled out that Voiceform yet?" "What form, father.." "The one Grins sent out. You know... to see how you're progressing with your treelovers." "We're druids... father." "Yeah whatever. Look hurry up and fill it will you boy? I've got a poker game with boys later and I want to make sure to drop it off before I leave." "Father, your back has been acting up again... maybe you should sit this one.." "You call this a bad back? Why, just because you're older now doesn't mean you should go telling your dad what to do." *sigh* "Forgive me Father, I spoke out of turn. Can it at least wait till I fix this? the water taps are clogged again." "Well they wouldn't be if you didn't keep washing dirt down them! Why back in my day.." *Grabs form*"Changed my mind. I'll do them now father." "Good boy."
1. What is your Sex? Male.. I believe.
2. What is your physical size? About 2.4 metres.. or 7.8 feet. Depending on who is reading this I suspect.
3. What is the color of the hair, eyes, and skin? I am an Albino. Pale white skin, faded grey eyes, white hair. My horns are rather a shade of dark brown though. Still unsure why.
4. What is the general appearance (i.e., How does he/she dress, etc.)? Well, usually I wear whatever comes to me. It is fortunate that the times have brought us to an age where there are troll sized jeans and a T-shirt. Usually I wear a small jacket in cold winter, but whenver I feel I might be going somewhere inhospitable, a lined coat comes in handy.
5. Where was the born (City, State, Hospital Name)? Of that, I am afraid I cannot answer. Most of my records were lost over the second crash. I do know I was born in seattle.
6. What is your date of birth? I believe 21st of June, 2029. That much I remember.
7. What was family life like? To be honest, I do believe I came out of this a better man. My father took good care of me between jobs, even brought me here to this garden wonderland to learn what I could about the earth. True, he was absent for most of my teenage years, but he has always been there when it mattered. I owe him my life, and intend to repay the favour in his last days.
8. Has the character begun his/her own family? Sadly no.. I am not... well.. one who works well with people. Besides, I am in my later years now. Such things are of the past. *Cry from the other room*"HE MEANS HE NEVER GETS LAID" Father! Honestly!
9. Where or how was the character educated? I was thought the ways of the world by my father. Everything else I have learnt from my druid teachers. Of course, it means I know far more of plants than of the latest Trid videos, but I call that a fair exchange.
10. Has the character ever done anything else for a living? I sometimes sell off some herbs to people who might need them, but, of course, only for medicinal purposes...
11. What are the character's political and religious beliefs? Hmm.. this is a little bit tough. To say the least politics are a little above my belt. Until there is a politician who reinstates strength of unity, I will keep my eye turned away. I am rather pleased, though, that we no longer have to worry about having a dragon taking over again "Dunkelzahn was a champ!" FATHER! "sorry..."
12. Describe the character's moral code. Include how mercenary he/she is, whether or not he’ll/she'll kill innocents, etc. Odd question to ask. I understand the need to kill in this world - it was brought to my attention quite promptly by a Hand of five terrorist with an itchy trigger finger - but I also understand that one must not sqander life when it is unnesscesary. Underfire? yes. Left with no choice? Yes. Kill or be Killed? Yes. Hit an old lady in the street because she looked at me funny? No.
13. What are the character's goals? Keep my father healthy, the betterment of the waterfalls, maybe starting my own druidic lodge before I die, fixing that damn commlink of mine from sending me stuff from WoodLover846. For goodness sake I am WoodWORKer846! We're not the same people!
14. Why does the character run the shadows? "Cause No son of mine will ever work for the man!" Father, you do realise that this thing can hear you right? *sigh* Because being a SINner with all of my background history would bring a ton of problems. This cavern is my job. the Ork Underground saved, and therefore is, my life. I do what I can to keep it strong, until the day when it is no longer needed. Perhaps in another lifetime I will see that day.
15. What kind of personality does your character have? This should not necessarily be obviously stated in the background, as it is more important for actually playing the character, but it may color or add mood to the history. I am a rather shy troll, not intentionally, just that you hear more when you don't speak over everyone. The youth of today do nothing but speak, so I do nothing but listen, offering advice when I can. I try to only put in my words when it is needed... unless I am suddenly agrivated... then I can't stop myself.
16. What special qualities does the character possess? This does not refer to skills, but rather to other things, such as how she gets along with people, whether he/she plans ahead, etc. I tend to live life how it goes, to be friendly with whomever I meet. I am no public speaker, so I prefer to let my actions do more of my talking. Even my brothers here have noted that I prefer to be with the plants more than I am with them. My father is my topmost piority, so every decision I make tends to have him in mind. I always worry that people would consider me headstrong in some ways, but my intentions are always good.
17. Are there certain things that the character can't or won't do? Why? I will certainly never take a child from their parents. I have already seen how that changes your life. I will also not harm this sacred earth we live in, already contaminated with pollution and garbage. A good cleaning is all it really needs.
18. What things, people, or ideas does the character hate? "COOKED LIVER!" Hey! I said I was sorry about that! alright? I have a particular hatred for radical race groups. Yes I am looking at you Humanis and Hand of Five supporters. Quite frankly you can all go die in the fire that killed my people for the rest of your god-forsaken lives for all I care. Humans... well... I know there are a few good ones mixed amongst them, so I apologize in advance, but I cannot bring myself to like any of them.
19. What things people, or ideas does the character love? I am a rather big fan of books. It used to be the only real thing that gave people a view into another world, before all the AR malarky came in and changed the world. Nothing is more satisfying than reading a book - much less a book in Or'zet - and slowly going through it to the end at your own pace, instead of having it shoved down your throat by some crappy commlink that tries to sign you up for dwarf on dwarf action. ...come to think of it, how on earth do dwarves even... nevermind. I love my plants, or anywhere that is green. It just feels... right.
20. What is the character's name? Give both full birth name, as well as nicknames, street names, etc. My name is.. wow you waited a while to ask that? "Names don't mean a thing anymore. People just change them on the fly anyway Thanks father. Anyway, my name is Boris Bograt. Most of the people here just call me Barry... but out of the cavern, I'm known as Big B. Not sure where that came from though... but people keep making jokes about how my hands...
21. Determine what your character used to do, before becoming a shadowrunner (very important). Not much. Just watch the plants, make sure things are alright, let the real druids have their astral projection games while I focused on the betterment of our society... that sort of thing.
22. Decide why your character left her old job, if she had one (also important). What? Stop keeping these mosses alive? I have just.. JUST discovered that I might be able to grow sweet potatoes down here? I am not giving that up easily!
23. Come up with a reason for why the character became a shadowrunner. (This very often will tie in with #22. This is not the same as #14, but rather why he/she started running the shadows originally. What led him/her to it?) A quick source of income, a way to help out the Ork Underground when it needs help, and one hell of a way to screw with the corps. Can you believe they tried to buy the caverns? Seriously? Like, the hell!
24. How did your character come to know his/her contacts? Contacts are an important part of Shadowrun; decide how and why you know them. I've been fortunate to know people my father introduced me to. but sometimes I do slowly find a way to meet people on my own. Jannis was a stroke of luck. I needed some components to practice with, and she runs a store in downtown seattle. I think she's starting to warm up to me actually. Jamal was the former owner of our home, who got his butt kicked out for bringing in uncouthlys. I helped him move his stuff, and we've been kinda good friends ever since. "You better not be talking about that deadbeat Jamal over there boy! you know what I think about him!"
25. Does the character have a SIN? Does the character actually use it? Or is the character one of the SINless masses? This may be affected by the character's previous employment. I don't think I have ever had a SIN to be honest. Certainly don't have one now that's for sure. Managed to get two fake ones from my father's contacts, bless his soul. Fortuantely I have yet to really need one in an emergency, and with any luck, I never will.
26. Is the character a full-time shadowrunner? Or does the character lead a Batman-like double existence? Who's Batman? But yes, I sort of try to lead a double life, between taking care of my father and the vegs, and running in the shadows. At best, I have to make sure they only mix on the rarest of occasions.
27. Which person(s) or group(s) do you love the most? The Ork Underground, all kinds of shamans, anything written by Seleck Thomas - his is SUCH a good romance novel writer.
28. Which person(s) or group(s) do you hate the most? Name any racial radical group. Humanis, Hand of Five, you name it, I hate it. Oh, and people who keep littering. It drives me mad.
29. Which person(s) or group(s) do you respect the most? I have a grave respect for people in the Ork underground that have been running it since its beginning. My father is certainly one of them, and even though I do not know the details, I know he's got quite a strong thing going with them. Plus, hey, he's my dad. "What was that?" NOTHING!
30. Which person(s) or group(s) do you fear the most? My damn father. Again.
31. What is your favorite color? Hmm... is it wrong that it is green?
32. What is your favorite food and/or drink? Sweet, sweet, sweet potatoes. Oh yes!
33. What place would you most like to visit? I have always wanted to visit tir na n'Og... but damn people have practically closed off their borders to anyone who isn't sporting a pointy ear. It's a shame though... I feel I would learn much from them, and have much to teach them, had I been granted a chance to go over. Maybe I might send an application, see what they say... although I'd have to be a SINner to cross the border...
34. Which person(s) or group(s) are you most loyal to? The Underground and my father are up top. "Damn right!" The people of this Cavern are a very close second.
35. What pastime (that you participate in regularly) gives you the most enjoyment? (Warning: Answering Sex for this question can and will result in penalties to your character!) Going into my little garden, watering the plants... sometimes even talking to them. sometimes, if someone is lucky enough to bring a slab of wood down, I do a little bit of carving too. It can be quite relieving you know. At the end of the day, I need a bit of meditaton to help me understand the world around me, and how they work. A book, of course, trumps all of this.
36. What pastime (that you participate in regularly) gives you the least enjoyment? Watching anything on AR. Seriously. Why. I also have been concentrating on my Kickboxing classes - my father made me start taking them after we settled down in the Caverns. something to make me go out more, just in case I need to defend myself. As useful as it has been over the years, my body just is not what it used to be.
37. What annoys you the most? MY DAMN COMMLINK! "DON'T SHOUT" Sorry!
38. What (if any) is your favorite form of art? Writing. I read anything thrown at me no matter what it is. I take my sweet time, head to the gardens, and read on my own.
39. What is your greatest goal? That I can stretch the cavern to the surface, and get some light for a change. Make it a natural reserve of some kind too.
40. What do you think is your characters best quality? The fact that I like to listen.
41. What do you think is your characters worst quality? My Frekking temper.
42. What is the most important thing you have ever done? ...Hmm.. this one is a little bit hard... "not for me son... I know exactly what it was. Finding you in that warehouse. Clearly. you know that." ...Yes... father. ... I think I'll skip this question.
43. Which religion (if any) do you follow? I am a celtic druid. The earth is my life, and I thank her for it.
44. What is your most treasured possession (and why)? My amulet. A present from my initiation that I wear with me everyday.
45. What are your three most common dreams? What.. as in dreams I keep having or things I wish would happen? Well... There's the one about visitiing the metaplanes... the one where I get to visit naN'Og... then there's the one about the fire. You know what, I think i'll skip this question too.
46. What is the Character's current relationship with her family? "L FREKKING LOVE YOU SON" SHUT UP DAD!
47. If the character's family is still alive, what do they do, and where do they live? Please... please stop giving him reasons to talk "Why not! aren't you proud of your heritage of son of mine?" Not when I'm trying to do a voiceform I don't!
48. Where did the character learn his/her Skills? From father mostly. He thought me how to hold a gun, how to shoot, how to fix a broken wire. Magicwise, the druids of the caverns helped me quite a bit. Everything else I learnt from the people my father introduced me to as we travelled.
49. Does the character have a good luck charm? What is it, and why? My trusty amulet. Keeps bad spells at bay, keeps me focused, and reminds me that I will always have a home here amongst my kind.
50. What type of music does the character like? Something calming, peaceful, classical... *whisper* Don't tell father... but I like a little bit of europop too.
51. List any past serious relationships that your character has had, and give a brief overview of the relationship. Sadly no. Things have always been just me and my father. While I was younger, no relationship really stuck, and now I think I have missed my chance.
52. Where does your live? Why does he/she live there? In the Caverns... it is where I... hang on.. FATHER! "Yes?" I thought you said this was 50 questions! I clearly count three more that aren't suppposed to be there! "Oh... that's cause I added them to see what you would say... Wait.. you're going to read this? "Well.. yeah?" ...
53. Remember, your Father (I mean censor) likes detail, so if you can think of any other little details, quirks, or whatever that you think might please the almighty person reading this, then add them in as well. Oh, and your fath-censor won't use any of these details against you at a later date. Trust me...smile.gif Father... "Yes?" We're eating Soy tonight. "Oh come on!"
