Who said running the shadows was easy? Dodging bullets, swords, spirits, and spells just to name a few. Elves, Dwarves, Trolls, even the occasional Dragon can make any Shadowrun go bad.

So my main question is, can it be done (with karma)? I can't find mention of it anywhere. Probably I'm just looking in the wrong place, but I'm hoping someone can point me to it.

The main case in point (something I was thinking about) is Exceptional Attribute or Aptitude. Either of these allows you to bump a skill or attribute 1 past its maximum. I see BP costs for all the qualities, is there a list of karma costs somewhere else? Or perhaps the karma cost is the same as the BP cost?

And negative qualities. I know some people are thinking 'Why would you spend good points on a negative quality?' But sometimes it's a character thing. I get that some qualities would be bestowed by the GM at certain points (i.e. "You have made an enemy this day Mr. X. Write down Enemy under negative qualities at rating 4. You'll be seeing him again.") but for that kind of thing I imagine it would be gained for free. However I had an idea for a character with amnesia who eventually also gets flashbacks until he finally regains his memories and no longer has amnesia or flashbacks.

Thanks all.

Yes, there are rules for this. It is at GM discretion, of course, but it can be done at double the build points of the Quality. Of course, from time to time, I ask players to pay more (and rarely less) than the prescribed cost of the quality, depending on the game, the situation, and how the character fits in with the team.

Positive qualitie is x2 bp cost in karma but the GM must feel its either earned or warranted..like having a low pain tolerance hacker getting tough wouldnt make much sense

Gala and Sly Hound, are you referring to the karma system rules located in Runner Companion p41?
