And the Rain Keeps Falling

Wolf nods as the man hands him the badge, then clips it onto his uniform. He undoes the belt wound around his bundled blanket, and removed the rifle, a Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova, an old Russian model sniper rifle. He bundles his clothes up in the blanket and rolls it up, again securing the bundle with his belt. He slings it across his shoulder and hefts the rifle in his other hand, saying, "Let's go then."

The rain pounds across the windshield, cars coming the opposite direction only spray more of the murky water. The windshield wipers are having a hard time keeping up, but that doesn't seem to bother your driver. The armored rigger from the parallel team is dropping you off. Through the haze of the torrential downpour you can make out the flashing red lights atop the Humana Hospital. Looks like any normal highrise from here.

As the van pulls closer, the team is stopped at a security checkpoint, the guard wants to see your IDs. The driver collects them from each of you and passes them to the waiting rent-a-cop. He seems less interested in verifying them than getting back to his post. At least inside he can stay dry. You notice the TV is on inside the guard's booth, looks like he's a fan of Urban Brawl teams. A cursory glance, and he gives the IDs back. You hear a loud buzzing sound and the front gate rolls to the side, allowing you to drive through.

You are dropped off at the employee entrance nearest to the gate, the security tag opens the door, and all four runners step inside. You are in a hallway on the ground floor. To your left there is a locker room where security guards are changing into uniform, a bit further down the hall is the janitorial closet. But you've already got your own cart, so you pass by it.

Mentally you double check your objectives. Check in with the security desk, then head upstairs. Remember, 5th floor to find Dr. Nelson, and 7th floor to get the Vaccine. Frequency 8 if help is needed, get in and out as quickly and quietly as possible.

Ox grabs the janitorial cart and glances over his shoulder at his guard dressed team mates. "Come on you chummers. Bad enough to need a security escort, but I wanna get home to the kids, so lets get me in there and cleaning." Turning, the gangster turned janitor leads the group over towards the security desk.

The security officer at the desk spares a cursory glance at Ox and his 'security detail' waving the team through. "Someone left an awful mess on the third floor, maintenance said they'd get to it, but you'd better go help out," the two guards sitting at the desk laugh at their joke and one elbows the other in the ribs. When they see the others in security uniforms, they sober up and simply check the IDs.

"Martin call in sick again eh?" The one asks. "Fragger's been gone all week, how does he even have a job anymore?" he muses to his companion. They both shrug and hand you your IDs back.

As he enters the building, Wolf takes his cap off and shakes the water off of it, suppressing the desire to do the same with the rest of body. The synth-material of the uniform was scratchy against his skin, and was now wet on top of that. All in all, he'd rather be back in his synth-denim and -cotton clothes, with his own jacket on. He didn't really mind being unarmored, but he was used to his old clothes... as used to them as he was to any clothing, at least. These baggy things that he was wearing now made him feel like he was walking in someone else's skin.
Pulling his cap back on his shaven head, Wolf tries not to tense as the desk-clerk checks over their IDs. When they seem to pass, Wolf lets himself relax a bit, and says to the clerk, "Dunno. I just work when they tell me, y'know?" He raises a hand in parting, then looks over at Ox. "So we're going to have to make a stop on the third floor before we can even take this guy to the seventh? Drek. I hate babysitting."

The team heads to the nearest utility elevator, the building seems more spartan than most hospitals these days. There is an obvious security force here, no doubt in preparation of the launch of the new vaccine. You exit the elevator at the third floor, expecting another spartan backdrop, but you are instead surprised by what appears to be a lounge waiting area. Just inside are two armed guards who recognize the uniforms you are wearing and point down the hall to the left.

"Yous guys gots here quickers than usuals," one of the two drawls. Behind the pair of rent-a-cops is a large window overlooking what would probably be a brilliant skyline of Seattle. In it's current state, all you can see is the ripple of water streaming down it's surface as rain batters the glass.

The lounge gives way to a long hall through the doors the guard had just indicated. Bare linoleum floors and high ceilings whitewashed in typical hospital style await you. Along both walls are numerous doors leading to exam rooms, one of them has been blocked off by a wet floor sign, looks like that's your stop.

Wolf looks about awkwardly, pulling at his oversized uniform before pulling the mop from the cart. Taur takes up position outside the door to play out guarding the maintenance crew, and Ox retrieves the wet floor sign. All act the part as best they can until...

CRACK! An enormous flash fills the small room with bright magical lightning, the stink of ozone fills the air, and a form begins to materialize above the bed.
