Character Generator?

Just curious if anyone has found a really good computer based character generator?

The one I have found is ChargenSR4, which takes care of a lot of things, but doesn't take into account builds for changelings, and is a little buggy, but gets the job done for basic character creation.

The only thing that really hurts with it, is it doesn't have a place to copy down Karma gains and expenditures, and just keeps a rolling track of how much you've spent.

Some of the other games I play in have gone so far as to build an Excel sheet, but that seems like it would be murder for this system, with the linking of various different sheets, drop downs, and the linking of math in general... I've seen some attempts at those as well, for SR4, but most of them are basic shells that get the job done sub-par to the GUI generator I have already found.

So, what do you guys use??

That is what I use,,,I have to tone down the house rules but it does SURGED, and non humans well.

Make sure you click on the Settings Tab,,that can be confusing...he left it in House Rule mode.

Heh, yeah.... that confused me for a second there. Figured it out after I just about gnawed on the computer for ten minutes. Looks pretty solid, from what I see. I like it.

A new version with fixes was released yesterday in that thread.

hero labs is in the beta mode on a shadowrun Character generator. seen some screens of it.. but other than that.. will keep this posted as i hear from hero labs. they said something about having it out in spring.. but don't quote me on that.

i had made a Char gen using Excell 2003 it contains all the information though i dont think i made it or updated it if thats the case with the anaversary rulels. ive been looking foran uploading site to host the file so i can post it to here

i don't know if others have been having issues, but exel 10 is breaking Dk's exel 97 sheet. which sucks. as it looked like a nice program for CG.

Yeah, and I heard Open Office breaks it too, unfortunately, and good fraggin' luck getting it to post toGoogle Docs (maybe if you don't convert it?), but my Excel 2003 works it just fine yay for crappy old cubicle hardware! I think that 2007 can work it too, as long as you remember to save it in compatibility mode. Sorry bro!

well, maybe it isn't broken.. the invisible stuff had me confused..

made 2 char with it last night. worked fine. would like a bigger inventory window.. cyberdoc have alot of little med stuff to use.

now to get what i made posted here.... hmmm

as i have yet to play a mage or hacker, i havn't used those areas.. as for the changlings..... i will not be there for a while..

Really, kids, the rules really aren't that complicated. Learn them, and make the characters the "old fashioned" way.

For me it's more about not wanting to type everything. I dig those drop boxes.

it isn't than american "can't" do math. just lazy, why do math if there in a electonic acubus that can do it for you?

i just don't like typing EVERY thing.. data entry sucks.. monotinus and BORING! i can use paper and pen to make a char, but then i am not at a table to use it. and if you want to see it.. it has to be electronic. Sooo, if you need it electronic, why not make it electronic in the first place.

as for the confusing.. it is just new and had to figure out how the creaters of the spreadsheet did things.. and puzzled it out.. i kind of posted in a hurry you could say. so bad me for posting my thoughts before i thought it thru.

There are some enormously major negative side effects to that kind of laziness. And typing is really not that bad.

Gala, not everyone can type over 160 words per minute. I'm sure if typed any faster or harder, i would go through more than 2 keyboards a year. Either through usage or through my wife throwing things at me to quiet me down when i get into a particular streak and i start going at it in near machine gun fashion. She actually recorded me typing once, and played next to the sounds of a ma deuce going off, and they were damn close.

Get a new keyboard!

I don't even notice how fast i type or how loud it is. I live alone (sucks) so i blast music in my apartment while i post, and i listen to every thing from classical to rap to techno rock i could go on to...

I miss living alone sometimes... Then again, I live with a bunch of pre-geriatric religious nuts.

LOL dude i would too, but i been doing it for a while... its nice to have some one to chat it up with... i don't think i'd like that kind of company though lol

You're right, except these ones are also overly religious. It's in my lease that I can't have an opposite sex "overnight" guest. Not even relatives! Some days I wish I was homosexual just to tweak his gears.

Actually, I have to move precisely because he is finally getting hitched, at the ripe age of 48 (I think). They are going to move in here together.

I don't usually worry about the companionship issue. I just don't do it at my place.
