Mamba pause the vehicle as too say come on. Then he said "come on lets get it going." and waves Jack in. "Sentinel and bear sit tight or find some where round the target to hang without being seen."

Jack nods, shrugs, and hops out of the van heading over for the car. - I don't mind the back seat... So long as the car stops before any fighting begins... She thinks grimly. She shrugs, letting the thought go by the wayside, and reclines in to the tight space in the back of the car.

(and with that prodding from jack Mamba let the car go heading strait to get the much needed rope. Then home to grab his gear. He would park a block and a half away from his actual dos, and walk the rest of the way. When he returned to the car he would smile at the passengers. "Lets do some recon." after that he would make his way to the area on the map. For a quick scope out of the zone they would be operating in....

(Ooc i don't know how long this all will take.)

The trip went by fast, far too fast. Zee hardly had enough time to check up on all her networking sites, image boards, public forums, and, of course, the hilarious cat picture of the day. While she browsed, she rested with her feet up on the dashboard, the rotodrone resting on the floor below. She almost looked like she had shut down with her arms folded in front of her, retreating back into her Steampunk jacket. But eventually she lifted her goggles up, blinking and glancing around with confusion for a second before looking over at Mamba and back at Jack. "Oh... Where are- Oh right," a quick check of her GPS kept her from asking a really dumb question, and she hurried to move past her little faux pas. "Okay, so how are we gonna do this? Get out and walk? Send in the drone? What?" She moved her feet out of the way in case she needed to let the rotodrone out.

"All of the above, kid..." Jack says, her voice grating like iron being dragged across cement. "We can't be sure what we'gunna find... Gotta go in with all eyes open, just to see what we might see..." Jack's voice faded off as the neighborhood caught her attention. She was looking around with a critical eye, trying to understand everything there was out there to see.

OOC: 2 rolls. First is Perception. Second is Astral Perception. Jack is still in the car, so this is looking out all the available windows. She will switch vision, so she looks around twice...

<<I am assuming that it is night, If you prefer a daytime run let me know>>

Your first look around the neighborhood shows a middle class commercial area. It's clean and orderly with very little garbage or rubble on the streets. No one seems to pay you any heed as you pull into the area. There are a few people moving about the street, hurrying off to the local pub after work, or hurrying home to avoid the shadow community that owns the place after dark.

Looking at the building you will see 4 very obvious cameras covering all sides of the building approch. These cameras look to be a little older as you see a wire coming off the back and entering into a pannel on the side of the building next to each one.

The main entrence is a normal commercial building entrance, glass doors with a security desk in the entry way. You can't tell if anyone is in the entry way because of the slight tint added to the glass.

<Astral>
Most of the areas astural signature is normal, the building its self is warded and has a manna barrier around it. There is an odd aura radiating from the building. It looks like the barrier was created to keep the aura in the building, but it isn't succeding.

You also notice a few watcher spirits moving around the building regularly, obviously searching for somthing or someone approching the building.

For his own part Sentinel simply busies himself in the back of the van by going through the rather lengthy process of putting on his armour. Thanks to the quick release system built into it, it was rather simple to get out of, but actually getting back into it was the hard part. He had to make sure all the heavy duty plates, electronics and servo systems were properly meshed together and responding properly. At least he could suit up himself but it would still take some time to accomplish the task. Eventually however he was soon encased in his suit. Fortunately at least it wasn't as bad as trying to get into the heavy suits, but none the less the plates were still heavy duty compared to most other suits of armour on the market.

"Hmm... Interesting. Ya don see that very offen..." Jack mutters to herself, looking somewhat perplexed as she is fixated on the building itself.
"Well, not like ya haven't noticed yet, but therrs cameras covering the four corners. Dusn't look like they ken see the roof tho, think that cud be the best way in. Good thing ya got that wire therr." She says, still looking out the window at the building. "We may have a problum tho... The building looks like it is awakened... or somethin. It has it's own aura. I aint never seen nuthin like that before." Jack says, nearly whispering. Her voice sounding too much like an autumn wind over dry leaves for comfort. Without having seen her warming smile previously, the voice would be seriously creepy.

"Either one of ya any good at reading auras? I never picked up the knack fer it muhself..." Jack adds, almost as an afterthough. She finally looks away from the building, and peers toward the two co-inhabitants of the car.

At first Zee wondered if there was some theatrical requirement to this aspect of the job that needed filling, or if Jack was just being overly dramatic. She considered asking about the freaky whispering, but then the possibility that it might be some sort of magical trance struck her and she held her tongue. "Um, nope... I can read, like, AROs, but not auras," She frowned at her own dumb joke and turned back to the window. "So do you mean that the building is magical or is there, like, a lot of magical people or animals or stuff inside there? I mean, it is supposed to be a magical research place for forensics or something? So it'd make sense for there to be a lot of magic there... right?"

Jack snorts at Zee's joke, clearly moderately amused by it. "Well, therrs a cupple ways this cud happen, if I can 'member muh magic theory lessons. But I aint never seen it with muh own eyes before. It could be like you said, lotsa magic stuff happens inside, and the area starts to resemble the repeat activities. Thats called a "background count"." She overpronounces the words "background count," and for a moment, her street accent vanishes, replaced by some other accent, which wasn't there for quite long enough to identify it.
"But, that bein' said, it would have to be powerful research being done, always in a similar way, always by very powerful sloppy researchers ta manage ta put together a background count like that. 'Cuz most researchers clean their areas evry day. And it wuddn't be too smart to do anything different from what created the background count neither. That's why I am surprised by this thing, 'cuz knowing that they do stuff in there, and that smart mages clean up after themselves, it aint likely that we's lookin at a background count." She looks at Zee thoughtfully.

The line of logic made sense to Zee, but she frowned as she considered Jack's words. "So..... we's lookin at- I mean," she coughed into her palm and intently studied the windshield again. "We're looking at something other than a background count... what other options are there? Oh, and wouldn't this be noticeable by mage cops? So like, they probably need a license for whatever they're doing in there, right? I'll start up a search and leave it running in the background, see what it turns up. Probably nothing more useful than 'forensics spell testing' but maybe we'll get lucky?" She propped a boot against the dashboard again and called up her Browse program. This would likely end in needing to hack into a node somewhere, so she ran her Stealth routine too, just to be safe.

"Uhh... Yah, I s'pose that'd be true, I think... If the mage cops ever came ovah this way, an if the guyz inside were cheap an' wuddn't pay a good doughnut-bribe." Jack said, trying to think of any reason why this would be allowed, as a background count or otherwise, by the mage cops. "Thing is, any halfway dumb beat-cop mage wud know that this aint no "Forensic Spell Testing" spot, 'cuz the forensic guys keep therr sh-tuff cleaned up. Aint no forensic mage gunna leave a background count sittin' 'round." She said, reiterating her point. When she said the "Forensic Spell Testing", the strange accent returned, again, clearly not a street accent, but she didn't use it for long enough for anything useable to stick out.
"An' if that thang is somehow alive... Well, that jus gives me them gorilla-bumps all over muh arms. I don' even wanna think about what kinda nasty drek is a'goin on ta bring a fraggin buildin ta life." Her voice darkens noticeably as she finishes her statement. She manages to subdue the shiver that tries to escape at the thought.

Zee: Your surch has brought up a lot of licencing requests by 3F. So far none of the requests have been approved besides the forensics studies. Your surch also brought up a list of complaints that were filed against 3F for the location in question. There have been 3 noise complaints and 5 different astural pollution complaints. One of the complaints even hints at the possible use of blood magic.

The licencing requests are for further testing of powerful magic, studying powerful artifacts, and studying how to trap/free free spirits more efectively.

(you can look into the complaints further if you want to. You just noticed them on the public site as you were scanning.)

"Um, hey, wow! This is some crazy drek here. Jack, Mamba, you guys might want to take a look at this." Zee forwarded the results to the other two, and then turned back to the site. The comment about blood magic caught her eye, and she called up that entry to examine it in further detail. She may not know what, exactly, 'blood magic' consisted of, but it sure didn't sound friendly or even legal! There seemed to be a lot more going on here than first met the eye (or astral eye or whatever). Zee couldn't help but worry they might be in over their heads.

"Hmm... Blood Magic... That could be a lot of fun!" Jack says, the excitement in her voice clear. Her gaze swivels back toward the building, then looks to her companions again.
"The Blood Magician reward still exists from the Draco Foundation. It may actually be worth it for us to do just a bit of research, and then go in during the day. It would be VERY lucrative for us to catch a Blood Magician." Jack stops, licking her lips in anticipation of the reward for catching a Blood Mage. 1MMY, even after being split up among the group, ammounted to a very comfortable nest egg to keep her in business doing what she does best!
"Let's keep up the recon for now, but steer VERY clear of that building. An idea just popped in to my head, and I want to talk about it with the group. Somewhere safe." She said, her eye twinkling with the beginnings of a plan.

Parks several blocks away from the target building, Bear sits in his van drinking an energy drink and munching on a few chips. He's already geared up and ready to roll, even though they were just in the recon stage of the mission. Even though he's eating, he stays focused on the street towards the target location, just in case the frak hits the fan.

Sentinel for his part finally finishes suiting up in his armour and starts double checking his equipment and the armor's few systems to ensure everything is working properly. Once he's done he sends out a quick message to everyone on the team to indicate that he's ready to move when ever the rest of the team is.

Mamba was sickened by the idea of blood magic, but the reward sounded like it might be worth disscussing witht the group. he decided it might be best to regroup and talk it over. "Good intel Zee" he nodded to the young runner. Then asked that she forwarde a meeting address to a near by parking lot 3rd. floor in the backaway from the building.

Once there Mamba points out that "Were not ready to go. We still need the case for the book and theres a the matter of one or more possible blood mages. do we wanna take'em if we run into them and clean up on that draco reward or just handle the mission at hand up to you guys im game for either i would also like to have a few surprisese for them in the event somthing happens. all in favor of an unequipped go ahead say I...."

He looks at Jak "whats the skinny on the reward hows it play out peramiters and all..." he wanted the team to make an informed decesion was all he wanted them to see all the angles...

as Jak spoke mamba looked at the troll and the elf he smiled they looked like tanks both of them he was sure the muscle was coverd but were there backs as covered in everything else....

Running it Old School - Page 6 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Running it Old School   Running it Old School - Page 6 EmptyThu Apr 08, 2010 3:09 am

"Wish I had a lot to say on the matter. Blood magic's jus' so dangerous, chances of a weak mage going down that track alone is not lik-ly. Also, since evraone will take a pot-shot at one if they know, Blood Mages is very good at keeping alive. Aside from that, though, they ain't the boogeyman evrabuddy think they are... Blood Magic by itself ain't no more powerful than reg'lar magic. Jus that ta find one out here, he ain't likely to be uninitiated... which means he can be tricky.
"Now, for the reward, the Draco foundation don't care who y'are. They only care that they can tell that the dead guy wus a blood mage. Interesting, it's easier ta tell on a dead one than a live one... Cuz a dead one cain't mask his signuhture."
Jack offers up by way of an explanation. Hopefully that gives them the general idea of what they were up against. It's not a small-potatoe, but for 1MMY, it's definitely worth it!
"All we gotta do is kill the thing, an' Ah shudd be able to tell that it's a blood mage. But the Draco will come take uh look to confirm, an' it ain't tough for them to tell. We can move the body if they can't come quick 'nuff, but we shuddn't if theyc'n come right quick... its easier to tell where the blood mage cast recently.
'Member, though. The ain't some mythical creature... But it ain't likely that a weakling managed to stay alive either."
Figuring that that was about as good information as she would be able to provide without specific questions, Jack left off. But then, the same idea she was considering before returned to her head.
A sparkle entered her eyes, and a smile came across her lips.
"Ya'know... Ah jus got an idear, an' it might work out right good fer us... See, Draco will come in force if'n they believe that therr's a live one here. If we'c'n git up some ev'dence, an' show 'em, they'll do the heavy liftin' for us. We might be able to work it out jus' right to nab the book during the Draco raid... But that's a risk too." The mischievous look on her face was infectious. And the simple, but sweet, idea was definitely a good way to "call the cavalry" so to speak on the mission. All they had to do now was get reasonable proof to show that a Blood Mage really is there, or is likely to be there, and the Draco guys will come in and do all the hard work. Only problem, all those Draco guys might make it difficult to snag the book...

Mamba smiled at the idea of all those draco guys storming the hot zone at there most needed time. then he snappeed back to reality. "Right so they'll take'em dead or alive. If we sent them a live feed of say a blood mage in action well that could clinch it for us." His reasoning was sound enough if they ran into a blood mage they could send a live feed over the draco foundation. Effectivly calling in back up. like Jak had suggested.

"That ain't quite true... That would only work if either a summoned blood spirit was ordered to materialize, or we catch the dumb fragger in the midst of using the "Sacrifice" metamagic. Otherwise, there ain't no good way to tell between a dangerous mage and a blood mage." In the same way as she had done before, Jack overpronounced the word "Sacrifice". Again, her strange other accent came out, just for the one word.
Jack leans back against the side of the car and peers around the parking lot. "Hey Zee, can ya take a buzz 'round this lot an' see if there's some cameras? Ahm sure that they's dumpin on the net somewhere..." She says, looking to Zee to see if she was even entirely paying attention.

"That aint quite what I said... Live feed works, but we either gotta get real lucky; or we gotta already be in the stink so deep that therr aint no way that Draco is gunna manage to save our drek. If the drek hits the fan, trust that a Blood Mage will do what evah he's gotta do to git his drek-stained shorts out that buildin' in one piece! An' that's where the live feed gives proof, but it's already gunna be too late to let the Draco guys save our own butts. We's jes gunna haveta kick some butt an' take some vid feed!
"'Course, if we'c'n git lucky, an' git one'a Zee's drones in therr, an' catch the fragger red handed... Well, that'll work Jes Fine!"
